AFACT Course
The Indian Air Force conducts the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to select officers for all branches of the IAF, with the exception of the medical and dental branches. These branches include the Flying Branch (Short Service Commission), Technical Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission), and Ground Duty Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission). AFCAT is held twice a year, typically in February and August. AFACT Eligibility
Age Criteria
Flying Branch: the maximum lifespan is 20 to 24 years. The maximum age limit for candidates with a valid and current DGCA (India) Commercial Pilot License is 26 years.
Ground Duty: a maximum of 20 to 26 years.
AFCAT Selection Procedure
The Selection Process of the candidates in the Indian Air force for the officer’s entry is done in three phases:
- Written Examination
- AFSB Interview
- Medical Examination
The AFSB (Air force Selection Board) Interview is the toughest phase of selection. Well, the Written Exam is also that easy. One will need to prepare better for this as well. To apply for this, There are some eligibility criteria that is a requirement to have to apply for the AFCAT Exam.
Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT:
- For Flying branch: Degree from a recognized university With 60 % & 12th Passed with 60% marks in Each Physics & Maths
- For Ground Duty Technical:Degree from a recognized university With 60 % marks
- For Ground Duty Non-Technical: Degree from a government recognized University with Physics , Mathematics, chemistry, statistic, International Relation ,Defence studies, Psychology, computer science, IT, Management , Mass Communication etc. with a 50% marks in aggregate all papers put together in Post.

About AFCAT
The Air Force Common Admission Test, or AFCAT, is conducted by the Air Force Selection Board to recruit ground and flying staff for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Successful candidates in the AFCAT are required to participate in a five-day Air Force Selection Board process.
